Anduril Industries
Anduril builds defense tech: drones, autonomous systems, and the software that runs them. The VR link is its founder, Palmer Luckey, who created Oculus, plus its work on headsets for the military.
In May 2026 it raised $5B led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, which doubled its valuation to $61B. In July there were reports it was talking to investors at around $100B. It still hasn't filed to go public.
What I'm watching for: an IPO filing. That's the day regular people can get in.

Qualcomm (QCOM)
Most standalone VR headsets run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips. That's the whole reason it's here: whoever wins the headset war, Qualcomm probably gets paid.
What I'm watching for: new headset launches and what chip is inside them.
Sources: Sources coming.

Unity Software (U)
Unity is the engine a lot of VR games and apps are built with. More VR content means more developers using Unity.
What I'm watching for: whether VR and AR keep growing as a share of what people build on it.

VR for athletes
Pro and college teams are using headsets to let players take mental reps without getting hit. The names I'm tracking: Cognilize, STRIVR, and StatusPRO.
What I'm watching for: big funding rounds or a buyout. None of these are public, so the news is the signal.

Sandbox VR
Full-body VR arcades where groups play together. In March 2026 the company said it passed $300M in lifetime sales and 80+ locations across 13 countries, with close to 150,000 players a month. It has said its average U.S. location does about $1.7M a year.
There's no Sandbox VR anywhere near Florence. Somebody's going to build one.
What I'm watching for: franchise terms and whether it ever raises money from the public.

VR day trading
Imagine six trading monitors floating around you in a headset instead of on a desk. eToro has been exploring Vision Pro and Meta Quest apps, and a few small companies sell immersive trading setups. Nobody big has shipped one for regular traders yet.
What I'm watching for: the first major broker to launch a real headset app.
